The Coweta Falls Chapter, NSSAR, will be dedicating their second Liberty Tree on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at 10:00 AM. It will be at St. Thomas Episcopal Church on Hilton Avenue.
In honor of the United States of America’s 250th Anniversary in 2026, the Sons of the American Revolution are dedicating Liberty Trees across the nation. The Liberty Tree (1646-1775) was a famous elm which stood in Boston near Boston Common in the years before the American Revolution. Beneath it, in 1756, colonists in Boston staged the first act of defiance against the British government with the Stamp Act. The tree became a rallying point for growing resistance to the British rule over the American colonies. In August 1775, a party of British soldiers cut down the tree and used it for firewood.
The 250th SAR Liberty Tree Program was rolled out at the Spring 2023 Leadership meeting by the National Society, Sons of the American Revolution History 250 Committee with the goal of planting 250 Liberty Trees for the 250th Anniversary with at least one tree in each state on or before July 4th, 2026. The planting of these trees will help educate the public of the importance of the American Revolution and the sacrifices that were made to become our nation.
We hope you can attend
